One week later, under review.

ob-Q1 2023-06-08

Posted at the beginning of June, recording the experience of submitting an entry. Hoping for good results.

林宇艾 2022-12-15

4 months after submission, a minor revision was made. After 1 month, the revised version was received.

哎哟嘟嘟嘟 2022-12-06

Two reviewers are enough. You now have 2+ possibly because some reviewers rejected the manuscript, and the editor is finding new ones.

Moon river 2022-10-25

The process was tortuous, and the ending was not satisfactory, but it is still worth recording. Submitted in mid-April, returned for major revisions at the end of June, with one positive and one neutral feedback, mainly emphasizing the need to enhance the article's innovation and significance. Made corresponding modifications according to the suggestions of the two reviewers and resubmitted in early August. After half a month of editing, the original two reviewers were invited to review, but reviewer 1 and 2 did not accept the review for over 20 days. Therefore, new experts were invited. Later, it showed a 2+ agreement for review. On October 25, which is today, the review comments were received. Reviewer 1 is still the same as the first review and agreed to accept it. Reviewer 2's review system and email did not show up, so the reason is unclear. The new reviewer 3 believes that the scope of the article is not suitable for EPSL readers, and the opinions are relatively impartial, but also provided some difficult-to-implement suggestions (partially denying the research significance). In the end, the editor suggested transferring to Tectonophysics or Geomorphology through Elsevier, with a one-month deadline to decide. Reflecting on the excitement and anticipation at the beginning of the submission, it is not realistic to pretend that nothing happened when being rejected. The submission experience indeed shows that EPSL requires higher innovation and research perspectives, and I can only blame my limited abilities. Perhaps comforting oneself that the research journey without rejections is incomplete. The road ahead is long, so let's keep going, little research chick.

I clicked on that link, but when I went in, it was the user page of the corresponding author. I could see that the review is in progress, but it doesn't show how many reviewers have been invited...

努力上进 2022-09-15

Excuse me, how did you send the email?

努力上进 2022-09-15

Elsevier will send the corresponding author a URL that can be clicked to view.

努力上进 2022-09-15

Excuse me, it has been two months under review. The system shows that one expert has completed the review in half a month, but the other expert has not finished yet. Should I send an email to the editor to inquire about it?

haoshihaocc 2022-09-13

Excuse me, have you received it now?

haoshihaocc 2022-09-13

May I ask where to see how many reviewers have been invited? I can only see the status as "under review" in the system.

haoshihaocc 2022-09-13

Congratulations! Could you please post the time points of each status?

charmingboy81 2022-09-13

We submitted the manuscript on April 20, 2022 and received the first round of comments on June 30. The editor then sought another reviewer, and we received their comments on September 12. The status has also changed to "Required Reviews Completed."

The best conventional length journal in Earth Sciences, it requires innovation and uniqueness. It places a strong emphasis on the fundamental processes and mechanisms in Earth Sciences. It is necessary to accurately describe uncertainties, errors, and limitations. Submitting and publishing on hot topics have advantages.

Moon river 2022-07-22

Greater than or equal to 2.

努力上进 2022-07-18

May I ask how many reviewers are usually involved in EPSL?

努力上进 2022-07-18

May I ask a question? It has been half a month since the EPSL submission status changed to "Under Review." It shows that 2+ reviewers have been invited, and one reviewer has accepted the invitation. How many reviewers does this journal typically invite in total?

Moon river 2022-06-23

Posted on April 19, 2022, returned for major revisions on June 22, 2022, hoping for a positive outcome.

GeoGG 2022-05-13

Based on my experience, it completely depends on the speed of different editors. Recently, I submitted two articles. For the first one, it took over a month each time to hear any updates from the editor. However, the second one was sent for review the very next day. So, being patient and waiting is necessary as the time frame can vary.

charmingboy81 2022-05-11

We submitted our contribution on April 26th, and on April 27th, it changed to "with editor." Today, on May 11th, it changed to "under review." We are already quite content to have reached this stage, and we hope the outcome won't be too bad.

GeoWorld 2022-05-10

Generally, it is not recommended to rush in the short term. Look at the 11th floor; it has been with the editor for 2 months. Additionally, the length of time with the editor generally has no inherent connection with rejection or submission for review. Submitting a research paper also involves a certain element of luck. Good luck to all of us.

charmingboy81 2022-05-07

In addition, if it is directly rejected and directly rejected for review after a few days in the "with editor" status, will the possibility of it happening decrease? 14 days? Or 30 days?

charmingboy81 2022-05-07

How long do you suggest waiting before sending an email while in the "with editor" status? Or should we not ask regardless of how much time has passed?

GeoWorld 2022-04-29

The process with the editor is quite fast, taking about 2-3 days. It may go through around 2 editors before reaching the actual chief editor. The duration with the editor is uncertain, as I have waited for about a month and it changed to "under review". However, it may not necessarily mean it is truly under review, as contacting the reviewers can change the status to "under review", but it may take a long time for someone to agree to review it.

Be patient and good luck.

charmingboy81 2022-04-27

The first time writing an article on tectonics, EPSL is the holy grail for me. It took me one month from writing to submission and even utilized the "jumping rope" technique to finish it. If it can be reviewed, it would be a groundbreaking achievement for us.

charmingboy81 2022-04-27

May I ask how long it took from when you submitted your manuscript to when you received the rejection letter?

charmingboy81 2022-04-27

How long does it take for the status to change from "Submitted to Journal" to "With Editor" after we submitted our draft on April 26, 2022?

GeoWorld 2022-04-17

EPSL is a bit slow compared to GRL :-(
It's possible that GRL has already received the first round of feedback, while EPSL is still with the editor.

劳改牛 2022-04-16

Posted in November 2021, the first round of comments was returned in March 2022. After making major revisions in the same month, the second round of comments was returned in April 2022, this time with minor revisions. Three days later, the revised paper was accepted.

The editor is efficient and the reviewers are professional. Their comments are constructive, making it well-deserving of being a Nature Index journal.

哎哟嘟嘟嘟 2021-12-27

Afterwards, I sent an email to inquire about the responsible editor. Xiao Xiu then accepted it.
