ICRF Research Professorship grants are highly-competitive, prestigious awards designed to foster maximum productivity in cancer research by a senior researcher who has made outstanding contributions to basic or clinical cancer research. An application for an ICRF Research Professorship grant must originate jointly with the sponsoring institution and the proposed grantee, and must describe fully all proposed research and teaching activities. For emeritus faculty, the applicant's department chair must write a letter formally committing space and administrative and scientific infrastructure for the duration of the grant. If an ICRF grant is awarded, funding will not be continued, if this commitment is withdrawn. ICRF Research Professorship grantees are required to act as spokespersons for the ICRF and for cancer research. By applying, candidates agree in advance to use the title “ICRF Professor” as appropriate in professional appearances and publications, and to accept the role of speaking on behalf of the ICRF at times arranged to be mutually-convenient to the grantee and the ICRF.
