As a beginner trying out SCI, it's still acceptable as it helps familiarize with the entire process. Basically, the journal guides you along. However, the publication volume and the warning received two years ago make it risky. I'm still worried about using it as a graduation requirement.
The timeline is as follows:

day18 - paper accepted (and APC Invoice payment notice, to be paid within 5 days)
