The teacher, Da Niu, told me that the review process for medical-related articles in AS is relatively slow. I personally experienced this with my submission. I submitted it on September 18, 2020, and received the first review after 3 and a half months. During this period, I sent two reminder emails but received no response. One reviewer rejected the article and provided 16 suggestions for revisions, while the other VIP reviewer accepted it. The editing process took 2 months for major revisions. Meanwhile, my junior colleague (co-author) had to go home due to illness, so I spent nearly two months conducting experiments on my own. I resubmitted the revised article on March 1, 2021. The second review came back on March 29, 2021, and it was accepted without any further modifications. I was pleasantly surprised and it became my second article with a score of 10 or above. I am also the first author (the first author for my previous article was in ACS nano).

In conclusion, it is indeed a bit slow for biomedical-related articles. Please be patient and the results may exceed your expectations. Editor Duoduo Liang is very nice.

under consideration If it takes more than 2 weeks, it will be sent for external review; otherwise, this magazine will reject the submission within one week. The external review process takes 1-3 months.

May I ask if it has been in the "under consideration" status all along and if it is not possible to see whether it has been sent for external review?

李茂娇 2021-03-24

So, is there any follow-up for "under consideration"? Can we see if it has been sent for external review?

May I ask if, for the first submission, the resulting image must be inserted into the manuscript rather than uploaded separately?

May I ask why some people return after only one week after the major repairs, but it takes you more than a month? I have been back for half a month after the major repairs, and I feel heavy-hearted.

The editor of this magazine is still very nice. After all, it has the highest impact factor among OA journals, and now it is a comprehensive journal that attracts many biomedical submissions. If the editor is not good or the quality of the articles is too poor, it is definitely digging their own grave.

Share submission time experience, received rejection letter after 42 days of first submission, 2 reviewers rejected, 1 reviewer suggested major revision, but the editor said if all the reviewers' concerns can be addressed, a resubmission is possible, additional experiments took about 4 months, received response after approximately 1 month of resubmission, 2 reviewers agreed, 1 reviewer suggested minor revisions, accepted within a week after minor revisions.

How long does it take for online information to be available on PubMed?

lessismore 2021-03-06

I don't know where to reply to the friend of the first and fourth reviewers for the three and a half months of biology. Just reply here.

You should have four reviewers, and reviewers 2 and 3 may be too meticulous. Editors usually give reviewers a long time (many are one month) to provide their opinions. If reviewers do not provide their comments in a timely manner, editors have no choice but to wait. Therefore, it is possible that the delay is the fault of the reviewers, not the editor. Finally, after receiving opinions from two people and making their own judgments, the editor replied to you. Also, you can check your manuscript number to have an idea of the number of manuscripts, and a larger number may result in a relatively slower process.

Has your laboratory submitted any articles directly to Science Advances without going through AS? In my personal opinion, I believe that Science Advances is a sub-journal of Science and should be at a similar level as NC, so it may not be as prestigious as AS.

Why is my review taking 3 and a half months? There are two reviewers, but they are numbered 1 and 4. Now, I have submitted the experiment after 2 months and I hope to get results soon. Ah, it's too slow. Is it because it's related to the field of biomedical science? I asked my senior and they said that in this field, submitting to AS takes much longer compared to others.

The reviewer's comments were fast, very fast. It only took a month from submission to acceptance. Initially, I had planned to submit to AFM, but seeing that the review process for AFM was a bit long, I gave up. I didn't like dragging things out and being indecisive, so I decided to submit to this journal instead. And it didn't disappoint, it even exceeded my expectations in terms of speed. There were two reviewers, and a total of 13 comments. The comments were professional, and some of them were quite challenging. I worked on my experiments overnight, barely resting for a week. I slept on the foldable bed in the laboratory at night, and finally managed to complete the experiments on the morning of the first day of the Lunar New Year. I then responded to the reviewer's comments, writing about ten pages, and a few days later, it was accepted.

Recently, I have seen many journals conducting various online lectures to promote their journals. This journal has low promotional efforts, and the editor did not require self-citation. The only drawback is the publication fee, but it was already included in the funding budget for the experiment, so it can be considered a reasonable expense. It is a very professional, fast, and efficient journal. If the work is good, it is worth trying this journal.

The current impact factor is 15.24, and the final impact factor should be similar to this. Compared to last year's 15.8, it has decreased by 0.6 points. The impact factor has not increased for three consecutive years. In the field of materials, if the impact factor does not increase, it is considered a decrease because most journals in the materials field are increasing.

9.4 Submission, 10.26 Revised with major edits, resubmitted after major revisions on 11.19. 12.22 Revised version returned with one week to answer the reviewer's final question (deadline: 1.1), response letter written and submitted by 12.31, acceptance notification on 1.5. Proofreading on 1.17, and online publication on 2.15.
With this, the submission cycle for the paper is complete. Wishing everyone a successful submission process.

moamoa 2021-02-14

Submitted on 12.22, received rejection email from the editor on 2.10, and the status was "under consideration" throughout this period.

What's frustrating is that this editor is not nice. Among the three reviewers, two suggested minor revisions and appreciated this work, while one suggested major revisions. However, the editor (Ulf Thomas Scheffler) ultimately rejected it.

In this situation, what are the chances of a successful argument? Should I reach out to the editor-in-chief?

petshi530 2021-02-04

We are just a comment, so the reply modification should be quick, right?

vadoll 2021-02-02

Hello, may I ask if this magazine has always been under consideration? Has the status not changed? How long did it take for you to receive the review comments from submission to acceptance?

petshi530 2021-01-27

15.84 High Score Magazine, fortunately, had the opportunity to accept one Comment article. The editor was extremely nice.

lessismore 2021-01-26

May I ask if the review comments are out now, and how many reviewers are there? Before receiving the review comments, what is the status?

发大财住别墅 2021-01-14

Posted on April 23, 2020, received an email on June 19, requesting a resubmission (I had posted before). It took about 3-4 months to revise the article, and due to some reasons within my own team, it caused a delay in time. Finally, I resubmitted on December 15th, and received acceptance about a month later on January 13, 2021.

Although the main focus of this journal is materials, the requirements for biomedical articles have been increasing due to its high impact factor. We have submitted a total of 8 articles from our laboratory, but currently only this one has been accepted. The other rejected articles were later published in Science Advance and some other journals with impact factors ranging from 6 to 8.

Hope this journal continues to improve.
