I am speechless. After submitting, I was given major revisions to be returned within 21 days, with comments from two reviewers. It took over a month to receive a response after resubmitting. The editor said that the first review was too superficial, so they did not consult the first reviewer and instead directly sought a third reviewer. The third reviewer did not even understand my references and claimed that my experimental design had issues, recommending rejection. The editor then rejected it outright. The experimental method I used was consistent with the original proposed dataset method, and yet he cited that literature when rejecting my paper. Doesn't he have a conscience? Furthermore, he claimed that several of the papers I cited had the same problem. I am about to graduate from my third year of research, and this infuriates me!!!
