I have to say that the review process was fast. There were three reviewers, one gave minor revisions and high praise, another gave major revisions but didn't believe it could reach 10%, and the third rejected it, stating that the methodology was outdated and didn't cite their latest articles. The editor sided with the rejection.

In the field of zeolite catalysis, I relied solely on my own ideas and experiments for this paper. It's a bit regretful, considering it's my last year of doctoral studies.

It would be fine if it comes back with major revisions, but if it gets rejected, I might really cry. The wait is just too long.

There was a break for the National Day holiday, so I went home and had fun for a week. I came back and rushed to work. Luckily, there weren't too many experiments that needed to be redone, mainly focusing on describing the mechanism.

Finally, after enduring a three-month long wait, my first article in Area 1 has been accepted and published by ACS Catalysis. Compared to those commonly accepted within one or two months, I can be considered alternative. During this period, I also experienced anxiety and questioning due to the long wait time, so I want to share the submission process here, hoping it can serve as a reference for those who are about to submit:

06-27 Manuscript submission;
06-30 Assigned to Prof. Silvia for editing, and soon after, sent for review;
08-16 Received reviewer comments, editor requested major revisions, with a deadline to submit the response by September 13th;
09-03 Submitted revised manuscript;
09-21 Second round of review completed, awaiting acceptance. There were still some minor flaws in the TOF, and the editor requested submission of modifications within 48 hours, even on the day of the Mid-Autumn Festival, I got up quickly to make the changes;
09-22 Notification of acceptance;
09-29 Proofreading;
09-30 Publication with page numbers assigned.

Overall, the processing speed of ACS Catalysis editors is quite fast and responsible. If lucky, and the reviewer's processing speed is also fast, then there should be no issue with acceptance within two months.

The speed was exceptionally fast. I received the review comments in 20 days, but unfortunately, my paper was still rejected. It's a pity. Overall, this journal places great importance on catalytic mechanisms and requires substantial empirical evidence. The reviewers are quite rigorous. I hope to make my next work more comprehensive.
