Hello, I just submitted my manuscript today. However, do I need all authors to register and confirm when sending a message to each author for verification?

Tsolmon 2021-12-22

I published an article in the past two years. As far as I remember, ASS has always been decent, probably at a level between the second and third quartile. I don't know how it ended up in the first quartile this time. You should know that journals like Materials Horizons, Small, Journal of materials chemistry A have also dropped to the second quartile. It is definitely unreasonable for ASS to be in the first quartile. I guess it may change back to the second or third quartile next year, otherwise it would be quite laughable.

DragonMa 2021-12-22

ASS does not know how to choose articles for publication. It is on the same level as low-quality journals like Water Journals and ACS Omega. In other words, it is simply a recycling bin for articles.

I am surprised that this journal has been upgraded to a first-tier journal. In terms of environmental research, based on my current submission experience, this journal's positioning should be lower than EST, JHM, and CEJ, but higher than Chemosphere. When compared to EP and Total, it depends on the specific research content, as this journal tends to focus on surface science. Its positioning should be higher than second-tier journals but at the lower end of the first-tier category. I see a lot of criticism below, but I don't think it's necessary. Our research group used to submit to Carbon, but not so much anymore. Submitting an environmental carbon remediation article to CEJ feels easier than Carbon because Carbon is more specialized in carbon materials, but its impact factor is slightly lower, so it's not necessary. Nowadays, there are so many carbon catalysis journals, and many environmental catalysis studies are published in chemistry journals like JACS and Angew. Carbon should be compared to ACS Nano, AFM, AM, as these journals focus on carbon materials. In that case, AFM is only considered a first-tier journal, while Carbon is considered a third-tier journal.

Seeing ASS move up to Zone 1, first of all, congratulations are in order. Then, seeing the discussions in the comments, I am a bit confused. What I don't understand is that the journal itself did not participate in the zoning process, so why are some people attacking the journal and even the articles published in it? I don't get it.

For this kind of water-pushing magazine, water-made magazine, it's really awesome.

Sugar 2021-12-21

How much money did you receive?

一片黄叶 2021-12-21

If it were up to me, my pants would laugh off OAO.

Arther 2021-12-21

I came to pay my respects to the godly publication, but I dare not contribute to the first district. What is the situation with this magazine? Is there someone behind it?

努力着 2021-12-21

Congratulations to ASS for being promoted to a first-tier journal. The quality of articles has improved significantly in the past two years, although the acceptance rate remains low. The editors are very patient and the processing speed is extremely fast. Wishing the journal continued success and improvement.

Originally thought that the domestic journal "Journal of Palaeogeography" publishing only 7 articles a year in the top zone was shameless enough, but unexpectedly there is something even more shameless. There is a journal called "Research" that is not even included in SCI, and has no impact factor (IF), yet it is directly in the top zone. "ASS" is just a normal journal, but the Chinese Academy of Sciences came up with a made-up "surpassing index" and claimed that ASS has surpassed MH, CM, JMcA, Small, Carbon, Ami... How come the Chinese Academy of Sciences doesn't use the "surpassing index" to publish in Nature or Science or win a Nobel Prize, so that everyone can see how it surpasses? Also, this journal "Mater&Design", a money-making journal, is also in the top zone. With more and more domestic journals being created, will there be a day when there are not enough spots in the top zone, and they will directly downgrade CNS to the second zone?

DragonMa 2021-12-21

Daily scolding, just this kind of l j journal being forcibly divided into one zone, you can go eat shi with your Chinese Academy of Sciences' zone division, completely lacking credibility, s b.

原原原原原原 2021-12-21

RSC Adv, ACS Omega are not satisfied, we also want to apply to become a first-class category in the field of materials science. If this continues, won't the classification of the Chinese Academy of Sciences be far from being despised? It wouldn't be a joke to randomly select some materials chemistry master's students from any university for classification, right?

penguin 2021-12-21

I'm laughing so hard, this journal is actually in Zone 1, hahaha. What's interesting is that JMCA, CM, Small, and even Materials Horizons have become Zone 2...
The difficulty, status, and quality of ASS journal are believed to be clear in the minds of those who have or have not been published in it. The world is too crazy, I can't understand it.

xyx2538224 2021-12-21

The brains of the Chinese Academy of Sciences have been kicked by donkeys. It's absurd to forcefully elevate domestic journals. Are ACS AMI, CM, JMCA, Small, Carbon, and CC all second-tier journals? Are they comparable? They don't even deserve to be compared.

starrystf 2021-12-21

The quality of the article is worrying.

别影响我打酱油 2021-12-21

Since the random categorization of domestic journals began, the Chinese Academy of Sciences has been criticized every year. I don't understand why the Chinese Academy of Sciences doesn't just cancel the categorization. They should place journals like CM, Small, Ami, Carbon, Jmca, JPs, and nanoscale in the second tier, while promoting ASS to the first tier. I just want to ask how many articles published in ASS were rejected by the aforementioned journals. Even the quality of articles in Acs SUs Chem Eng, J Colloid Interf Sci, and JMCC is obviously better than those in ASS, right?

DragonMa 2021-12-21

Upgraded version of Zone 1, this is purely for entertainment. Is it comparable to ACS AMI, CM, JMCA SMALL CARBON? Perhaps the people at the Chinese Academy of Sciences have lost their minds.

hign 2021-12-20

The development momentum is really strong.

keyan 2021-12-20

This partition, currently in zone 1 this year, may be in zone 3 next year, and it feels very unreliable.

科研小白.. 2021-12-20

Congratulations to the promotion of the journal Applied Surface Science to the first tier of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

dawang 2021-12-20

The upgraded version of the Chinese Academy of Sciences classification for the year 2021 has been upgraded to Zone 1.

QWE@@ 2021-12-16

The journal's impact factor is good, and the partition is also acceptable. The quality of the published articles is alright, but it is not open access. Considering the situation in the country, it is indeed a good choice for submission, as there are more chances of acceptance for submissions from domestic authors. To judge the quality of a journal, factors such as the quality of published articles, review process, open access policy, and peer review should be taken into consideration. It cannot be determined in such a way.

BMuZiLI 2021-12-16

Which research institute is it? Although this journal has a high proportion of published articles domestically, this cannot be used as the sole basis for evaluation.

dudupipi 2021-12-15

Factors such as a high proportion of domestic contributors and a significant increase in submissions in recent years may all be included in the blacklist. Of course, this policy is indeed a one-size-fits-all approach, which has wasted some good journals.

gdz6307 2021-12-15

A certain information research institute included such a non-open access, research-oriented journal with almost 100% of non-OA articles in their so-called warning periodical. I wonder what they were thinking.

六个核桃 2021-12-15

This is of no use, it seems like there is a charge, let's not bother with it.

hqh 2021-12-13

6th submission, 8th to the editor, and it hasn't been reviewed by the 13th.

May I ask if you have received the message "We invite you to convert your supplementary data (or a part of it) into an additional journal publication in Data in Brief, a multi-disciplinary open access journal"? Is it useful?

Carlson 2021-12-12

Submitted to Applied Surface Science, we have received an invitation to convert your supplementary data (or a portion of it) into an additional journal publication in Data in Brief, a multi-disciplinary open access journal. Is this beneficial?
