@Sincere is not Chengcheng.
It is already very obvious that AMI will definitely not exceed 10; as for CM and CS, they will probably fall below 9 for the first time this year...
This is also good, at least the number of journals with an IF greater than 10 will decrease significantly next year, so they won't be all over the place.

诚诚不是成成 2023-02-23

No, maybe it's just that the system is updating slowly. In the end, the IF should be around 11 point something. Both CM and Chemical Science, these two long-standing journals, now have an immediate IF of around 8. But AMI is even higher than both of them this year.

IT测试请忽略 2023-02-23

IF is high, the partition is also okay, and there is also the first district of the project.

占上风 2023-02-23

Looking at this trend, many journals with impact factors of 10 or higher have decreased this year. The updated impact factor for ACS AMI on February 5th is 8.777, with a completion rate of 84.5%. This means that the timely impact factor at the end of March will be the actual impact factor. Based on this trend, it is estimated to be between 9.3 and 10.

+和+ 2023-02-22

Currently, it is only 8.8. I estimate that it will reach around 9.5 in the end, but it is impossible to exceed 10...

asdf1 2023-02-21

May I ask where can I check the instant impact factor?

Jaanai 2023-02-19

Is it under review after being submitted? I don't remember. Does ACS update the time nodes according to each status change? Like Elsevier does.

无名123 2023-02-18

I feel that many journal impact factors this year have not reached the level of last year. However, domestic journals have increased quite quickly.

小时候很萌 2023-02-18

Last year today, the timely IF was 9.6, and this year the timely IF is 8.9. It seems that reaching 10 this year is a bit uncertain.

dnoasijfsd 2023-02-17

Can this journal still achieve an Impact Factor of 10 this year? I saw that the forecast has dropped to 9.3.

sally123 2023-02-16

How long has it been since the brothers finally handed over the deputy editor to KS? I've been waiting for seven days and there's been no movement.

Thank you for sharing! May I ask, when submitting a contribution, is it necessary to provide ORCID for all authors or is it sufficient to provide the corresponding author's ORCID? Thank you.

Discover that everyone's comments are becoming more and more in-depth and unbiased. In fact, ACS has a very clear goal, and it has always claimed to be Most Trusted. Most Cited. Most Read. In order to ensure its publication volume, readership, and citation count, the role of ACS AMI and its sub-journals is to embrace all kinds of contributions and have a broad scope.

The hierarchy of other top journals is already clear, from the comprehensive JACS to the interdisciplinary ACS Central Science. However, in the field of chemistry, there are various sub-disciplines such as organic OL, inorganic IOC, analytical AC, physical chemistry JPCL, polymers Macromolecules, and materials including ACS Nano and Nano Letters, as well as the current CM and ACS Materials Letters.

Lastly, there is the OA series launched in recent years - the Au series. I'm not sure if it is intended to be high-end or something else, but for now JACS Au doesn't seem to be of low quality. I wonder how it will be in the future. In any case, the positioning of ACS AMI within ACS is still very clear, which is to increase publication volume, readership, and citation count.

Regardless, ACS still has influence compared to Elsevier journals with similar scores. ACS does not manipulate the impact factor, and review journals are separate and unbiased.

正道沧桑 2023-02-12

When I was young, I was very cute. To determine the overall increase rate of material journals, it is only possible to move up a zone if it exceeds the average increase rate. However, currently, it seems that the increase rate is only around 1 per year, so it is probably not easy to move up a zone. Currently, there is also a serious trend of excessive submissions within the second zone. It seems that I can no longer invest in this. If it can be accepted by Ami, I estimate that submitting to CEJ, Applied Surface, and National Pottery, which are first zone journals, should not be a problem. Moreover, Elsevier's impact factor is increasing rapidly, and they receive many submissions. There is no choice but to adapt to the situation.

You don't need to spend money. Of course, you can also choose to pay for layout fees for the OA, but it's not necessary.

一只柯基 2023-02-08

@Night Talk Basan Indeed, it feels like the brand of ami not only does not help the reputation of the subsidiary magazine, but also sets a limit for them. If ami is not good, people will think that the subsidiary magazine is even worse. It is still necessary for the main magazine to have excellent quality first.

byakuya 2023-02-08

The volume of publication is related to the number of submissions, not a decrease in the quality of manuscripts.
For journals of this level, the acceptance rate is usually controlled at around 15%-20%, which means the rate of submission for review is approximately 30%.
If the acceptance rate is further reduced, it is possible that over 80% of articles will not pass the editorial review.

byakuya 2023-02-08

The process is quite tortuous.
In the first round, there were three reviewers: 2 minor revisions and 1 rejection (the reason for rejection was that the reviewer did not understand at all, which is strange because everyone else understood it well).
The editor asked for resubmission after rejection.
In the second round, there were still the same three reviewers: 2 acceptances and 1 rejection (the same reviewer rejected it again, raising 20 questions he came up with out of his own imagination. This kind of reviewer, who rejects for the sake of rejecting, denies everything).
In the second round, the editor provided major revisions. We directly contacted the editor via email, explaining that the reviewer had no relevant expertise and rejected the paper based solely on his own imagination. The editor agreed and asked us to refute this reviewer's comments.
After returning for the third round, the editor probably found a new reviewer to evaluate the paper. The previous reviewer who rejected it was not involved. The new reviewer directly accepted it.

小时候很萌 2023-02-08

The main issue is that the volume of publications is too high, increasing year by year. The self-citation rate has been continuously decreasing, while the impact factor (IF) is gradually increasing, indicating that the journal is indeed good. In recent years, seven new journals have been launched, and based on their first impact factors, most of them can enter the second quartile. ACS APPLIED ENERGY MATER. can be referenced as an example (despite currently being in the third quartile), as its IF has been increasing. I believe ACS AMI should consider reducing the publication volume and redirecting the flow of articles to the other seven new journals.

May I ask how long does it take for this journal to send the proof to the authors after accepting and signing the JPA? It has been a week and there is still no news.

夜话巴山 2023-02-06

In the past two years, the Chinese Academy of Sciences has once again mercilessly downgraded the ranking of this journal, causing it to lose its last bit of confidence in being a top journal.

Thirdly, despite not meeting the quality standards, the journal started blindly expanding its publication. Currently, including its own journal, it has expanded to eight journals. Unlike AM (AXM), Small NC (Communications XX), Materials Today (Materials Today XX), etc., these journals all started expanding their territory around the main journal after successfully occupying a leading position in the field. However, at that time, AMI itself had not established a solid position in the field of materials journals, which resulted in the newly launched subsidiary journals having an awkward position. No matter how they develop, everyone will perceive their positioning to be lower than AMI, and their psychological support for them will be even weaker. In addition, with the new journal classification this year, except for Nano and Polymer being in Zone 2, all the other subsidiary journals are in Zone 3, with none of them being in the Bio or Sci zones. It is feared that it will be difficult for them to form a positive cycle like other top journal subsidiaries. Once this inherent perception is formed, it will be difficult to change in the future.

In summary, as a place where everyone's research efforts are gathered, a journal can only thrive if the operating team has an advanced editorial concept and strong operational methods. As a former author, I hope that the AMI series can strive to change its shortcomings and enhance its influence, and become a true top journal as soon as possible in this era where various journals are rising.

Note: Some terms may require further contextual understanding for accurate translation.

Occasionally, I clicked in to see the comments about Ami and I didn't expect there to be such a big controversy. To be honest, for an ordinary elementary school research group, this journal is probably the best one they can publish in. Honestly speaking, I think the reason for the controversy may be because its impact factor surpasses many well-established journals, making people feel that it is not worthy of its position.

How should I put it, it is still related to the old impression this journal left on everyone in previous years.

First, the number of submissions is too large (to the extent that calculating the instant impact factor with WoS has to be done twice, exceeding the limit of 5000/year), and the content direction is too diverse, without a clear journal focus; even the term "interface" in the journal name is somewhat ambiguous. Applied materials can be understood, but what does "applied interface" refer to? In addition, if the top journals of ACS don't accept submissions, there will always be offers to transfer to Ami, which makes people feel less respectful.

Second, it hasn't found its target positioning. It can't boast as much as AM, can't tell stories as well as ACIE, can't compete with domestic journals in terms of impact factor, can't provide as detailed data as Elsevier, and can't claim to have "research depth" like other ACS journals. It doesn't have the noble lineage of the NSC publishing house, and being established in 2009, it can't rely on its old reputation, resulting in becoming a journal that tries everything but lacks expertise.

chem_is_try 2023-02-05

Not necessarily, but after calculating, the impact factor for this year should be able to exceed 11.
