TGRS has a super fast review speed, with major revisions given in 22 days for the first review and acceptance in 15 days for the second review. However, it seems that the difficulty is not very high, as the expertise levels of the two reviewers are uneven.
Today, there are over 1000 articles in early access (a bit terrifying), and the quality of the articles has significantly declined, with more watered-down content. It takes one and a half years to be published officially.

What kind of mentality do people have who step on this comment? Is it satisfactory to have only a few thousand articles published by tgrs every year?

What kind of mentality do people have who criticize this comment? Are they satisfied with TGRS's annual output of thousands or tens of thousands of articles?

没有名字_无名 2021-07-10

In other fields where top journals have seen a significant drop in submissions, it is quite rare for TGRS (Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing) to still be able to maintain an annual publication volume of less than 700 articles (in 2020).

tgrs should be merged with grsm, which is entirely a review article, so that the impact factor will definitely increase and it can also compete with isprs.

ChinIno 2021-07-04

That is a problem for the editor responsible for hyperspectral direction. The mechanism and algorithms of microwave remote sensing are not easy to publish in TGRS, which is the top journal in this field. As for the impact factor, IEEE has always been at a disadvantage. Many universities have not purchased the copyright of the first IEEE because it focuses too much on information class, unlike Elsevier and Springer, which many universities have bought the copyright for. Therefore, many people cannot access it. Secondly, there are no reviews in TGRS, so it is normal for the impact factor to be at a disadvantage. However, TGRS should indeed be taken seriously in terms of the issue of hyperspectral direction. Looking back, TGRS used to be the only top journal in the remote sensing field.

lironui 2021-07-01

TGRS has been damaged by water, especially in terms of hyperspectral classification. As one of the few remote sensing journals that has not seen an increase but a decrease in impact factor, we need to put in more effort.

brickerrrr 2021-06-30

Don't be so critical. It's not the same person. It's because I have a first-authored article in TGRS that I know what's going on. I've said it before, I have a conscience, and I will make major revisions. But some people are just audacious, they don't even bother to make changes and use it directly. Anyway, you've seen the impact factor for this year, everyone else is going up, only it is going down. If this journal continues to accept articles that simply copy and use ready-made modules like SE and CBAM from CV without any modifications like it did last year, then it's no use complaining.

smile丶mio 2021-06-16

How many reviewers do you usually have?

伟果果 2021-05-31

Right, are there really no articles on deep learning published in RSE? Remote sensing is originally a relatively young discipline compared to computer science.

伟果果 2021-05-31

Which top journal does not have any articles with irrelevant content? I still see a lot of articles with irrelevant content in RSE (Remote Sensing of Environment). In terms of algorithms, RSE is not as good as TGRS (IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing). The article published in Nature about studying global surface water changes using Landsat is also quite irrelevant.

I specialize in intelligent analysis techniques for hyperspectral image and have published in IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing (TGRS), a reputable journal known for its fast editorial processing and prompt reviews by experts (usually within 40 days).

闳煜 2021-05-24

The article I submitted on seismic wave simulation was directly rejected, stating that they focus more on remote sensing and it feels like a matter of luck, depending on which editor you encounter.

Reply to [Lu Yao & Yu Xin], I have applied to add you as a friend and have noted my contact information. Welcome to communicate.

路遥&宇欣 2021-05-19

Do you have contact information? I also do hyperspectral imaging, let's have more communication.

路遥&宇欣 2021-05-19

I specialize in hyperspectral analysis and am open to exchanging ideas.

Pola_RSA 2021-05-19

Doesn't this matter? Now it has also changed in my system.

smile丶mio 2021-05-08

What is the reason for me to change several ADMs for this journal?

Pola_RSA 2021-05-03

Submitted in mid-February 2021, received reviewer comments one month later. One accepted directly, one major revision. Associate editor provided the major revision. However, there were very few comments for the revision. Returned after 20 days of revision. Received acceptance comments on May 3rd.

TGRS review time is unpredictable; previously had a submission accepted in less than two months, so this time is considered relatively fast. Previously, there was also an acceptance after one year. It mainly depends on the reviewers appointed by the editor. If the review process is fast, the feedback is also quick. However, in the end, acceptance usually happens when the reviewers have no further comments.

Looking forward to TGRS maintaining this practice of accepting remote sensing research comprehensively. Otherwise, fundamental research will face significant challenges in finding a way out.

Reply to the second floor: Thank you for answering my question. I thought that this status meant that the editor couldn't find a reviewer.
BTW: I see someone below who received a response in about 30 days for the first review, while others took 6 months. Does anyone know how long the review process for articles in the field of hyperspectral imaging usually takes? There are two ADMs listed on the Author Dashboard.

Normal, after submission, it is undergoing review.

路遥&宇欣 2021-04-25

I submitted it on April 8th, and there are still no results. It is about remote sensing.

WithEnthusiasm 2021-04-20

Posted on April 15, 2021, it is currently undergoing review.

Reply to the third comment: It's not just the remote sensing industry, but which industry isn't like that now? I work in the industrial field, and even in industrial principles, there's no need to understand them, just throw them into the model. I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing, but I don't think it's very good, so I've decided not to pursue a PhD.

Did you choose to join the open source program? If you do, there will be an additional layout fee ($2000), just like other magazines. The first 6 pages of IEEE are free, and then each page costs $200 for members and $230 for non-members. Don't get confused, send an email to ask. IEEE won't charge randomly.

惊岚 2021-04-07

The layout fee is too expensive, and I have to pay twice. I have a total of 16 pages. The first time cost $2045, and the second time there is an additional layout fee of $2400, totaling $4450. I don't even want color illustrations, it's outrageous...
My senior fellow student also got hit, $1400 plus $2000.
This layout fee is outrageous...

Hi_ 2021-04-03

The reviewer provided very professional comments, and the editor's efficiency in handling them was also high!

The entire remote sensing community is like this, with more and more applications, more and more machine learning, and more and more data analysis. Solidly deriving formulas and developing models are becoming less common because there are not many projects that can be obtained by doing so. This is why TGRS was considered a prestigious journal several decades ago because senior scientists were patient in deriving formulas and studying mechanisms.
