Received reviewer comments at the beginning of January 2022. There were five reviewers, and four of them suggested minor revisions. Only one reviewer questioned our reaction mechanism and rejected the paper. The editor directly rejected it as it didn't meet the strict requirements of EST (Environmental Science & Technology).
Later, we spent two months conducting additional experiments and collecting more experimental data. We applied for a resubmission and the editor finally gave us a chance to resubmit.
