Talk about the experience of submitting an article to this journal. I submitted to a special issue of this journal in mid-April, thinking that the special issue would be reviewed quickly. The official deadline for the first review was May 31st, but I didn't receive any feedback until August. This is what annoys me the most. Reviewer 1 had only one sentence, saying that the article did not match the theme of the special issue. (Well, if the theme didn't match, why didn't the editor reject it during the initial review instead of making me wait for external review for 5 months only to be rejected by the reviewer?). Reviewer 2 raised a few questions, but it seemed like they didn't fully understand, and it could be easily revised in a day. Later, I heard from a friend that this journal is quite competitive. Due to a huge number of submissions, if you don't have connections to help you, your paper will likely lie dormant in the massive paper database without anyone asking about it, until it is finally rejected.
