OPTICS EXPRESS

First submitted to Photonics Research, it was rejected immediately. The editor recommended submitting to Optics Express instead.

So I switched and successfully submitted for review. The comments from the two reviewers were positive, and I was notified of acceptance within a month.

The progress so far was quick, but I must say that the level of text editing was not commendable. In the first round of revisions, the author's affiliations were rearranged, and the editing format for tables had various issues, so a letter was sent requesting further revisions. In the second round of revisions, to my surprise, the editor directly changed the order of the authors and replaced the first author! What's even more embarrassing is that, possibly because we had already paid the submission fee after the first round of revisions, the option to confirm the modified proof did not appear in the system after the second round of revisions, so it automatically went into the publishing stage... I hurriedly sent an email to the editorial department to request confirmation of the final version, and I am still waiting for the result.

I really didn't expect to encounter such a hiccup in submitting my first job. I hope the editorial department of Optics Express can provide some thorough training for their text editors...

The lesson here is that no matter how basic the issues raised by the reviewers are, it is important to address them in both the response letter and the revised manuscript. Do not assume that explaining in the response letter alone is sufficient. The reviewers' comments should be incorporated into the paper during the revision process. Re-submitting after making the necessary changes will be much smoother.

OE (possibly referring to the journal or publication platform) allows only one revision, which makes the review process seem unusually fast, usually within two months. This includes the time for resubmission after the first round of revisions did not pass. Taking my own experience as an example, from December 12th to April 13th, it took a total of 4 months for acceptance. I believe this is a normal speed for OE.
