Effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines in older adults in South Tunisia-Gabes

The efficacity of vaccination in elderly were differents in study. Our object is to evaluate the efficacity of Covid-19 vaccination in elderly. Analytic study conducted from April to June 2022, including 94 elderly aged >65 years in the Covid departement of Gabes hospital university. We compared : Group 1 : vaccinated : 33 patients. Group 2 : no vaccinated : 61 patients. In G1, 54,5% had been vaccinated full dose. Cough and chest pain were more common in G1. Fever, dyspnea and polypnea were more marked in G2. Parenchym involement (>75%) was more frequent in G2 (13,1% vs 6.1% ; p=0,32). Unfavoable developpment was similar in both groups (G1 : 43,4% vs G2 : 44,3% ; p=0,1). The death rate was more high in G2 (53% vs 45% ; p=0.5). The vaccine of the elderly does not completely protect against the infection Covid19 but it decreases the rate of mortalities.
