The whole process went through a major revision from the reviewers, followed by a minor revision. There were 4 more minor revisions later: one was because I mistakenly uploaded the wrong attachment, and the remaining three were regarding three small statistical issues pointed out by the editor (I have to admit the editor's expertise in this area is strong).
After going through various hardships, I always believed that hard work would pay off. However, the acceptance came in January 2023, by which time the journal's ranking had dropped to the second tier (not even a Top journal). I cried for two days. It's hard to accept!
Although I admire the editor's expertise, I can't help but wonder why the statistical issues had to be raised three times, which really wasted a lot of time.
I thought my first paper would be in a Top journal, but it ended up being downgraded to the second tier.
