Hello, bro. I logged in and commented using my WeChat account on the mini program before, so I couldn't reply directly to you. Now I have registered a new account with my email to reply to you. I think your concerns are possible because when I was rejected by the associate editor after resubmitting my paper for half a year, the editor suggested that I submit to Vegetable Research, the journal you mentioned, which is currently without an impact factor. I also faced graduation issues. Later on, I submitted to Frontiers in Plant Science and it was accepted just over a month later. I was lucky. In fact, the six-month rejection process by HR has already delayed my graduation. I was supposed to graduate this summer, but now it's pushed to the end of the year.

If you are also in a hurry to graduate, I suggest being cautious about submitting to this journal (although I admit that it is of a high standard). Currently, the journal is slow in operation due to the high volume of submissions. What I can't stand the most is that if your research level is mediocre, they won't reject it straightforwardly. Sometimes, they just keep dragging it on and hesitate. It's really frustrating! So when facing graduation, it's better to submit to a faster journal. HR is suitable for showcasing star research results in large research groups and they don't care much about the review cycle. The era of getting a review result in three to four months is gone and won't come back.

Bro, do you know anyone around you who has submitted to this journal? I want to ask if the review process is always this long after 2021. Do studies on transcription, metabolism, and proteomics get reviewed faster? I'm wondering if it's because your work is purely theoretical and they can't find enough reviewers. Recently, South Agricultural University has collaborated with Science on two new journals. I'm afraid that if I submit to HR, they will drag the review process for six months and then ask me to switch to the other two journals that don't have impact factors yet. That would be a huge loss for me.
