Upper $42,840USD Lower $12,120USD Up to three grants are available. The duration of the grant is 3 to 9 months. One-semester grants must begin in either September 2021 or February 2022; two-semester grants must begin in September 2021.Award benefits are:1. Teaching or Teaching/Research Award (Assistant Professor or Below) Monthly Stipend and Allowances: $4,040-$4,5402. Teaching or Teaching/Research Award (Associate or Full Professor) Monthly Stipend and Allowances: $4,260-$4,7603. Estimated Travel and Relocation Allowance: $3,750-$8,7504. Estimated Book and Research Allowance: $750 books and educational materials allowance; should be donated to the host institution (or other entity) upon grantee's departure.5. Dependent Tuition Allowance: Reimbursement for dependent education expenses may be available on a limited basis, depending on funding availability and grant duration. Grantees should confirm with CIES that proposed expenses meet eligibility criteria; however, availability of funds may not be known until the end of academic year 2021-2022.

The award is open to professionals, academics, all levels including early career. Ph.D. (or other terminal degree) is required. A letter of invitation is required. All teaching will be in English. For research, language proficiency sufficient to complete the proposed project is required. Both academic and professional applicants must have at least three years of teaching experience at a university, college or community college at the time of application. Teaching assistantships do not count toward this three-year requirement. Professional applicants with the required teaching experience will be considered and evaluated by the host institution case by case.Applicants must meet all of the following requirements at the time of application unless specific exemptions apply.
- U.S. citizenship - permanent residence is not sufficient. - Recipients of a Fulbright Scholar grant are eligible to apply for another Fulbright Scholar grant two years after the date of completion of the previous grant. (For serial or Flex grants, the two-year period begins at the end of the final grant in the series.) - Candidates who have resided abroad for five or more consecutive years in the six-year period preceding the date of application are ineligible. In this case, a period of nine months or more during a calendar year is considered to constitute a full year abroad.
- Recent college graduates with limited professional experience are ineligible for consideration under the Fulbright Scholar Program. - Graduate or doctoral students seeking funding to complete their degrees are ineligible for consideration under the Fulbright Scholar Program.
- Sound physical and mental health: selected candidates are required to submit a Medical History and Examination Report before their grants can be finalized.
- Employees and their immediate families (i.e. spouses and dependent children) of the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Agency for International Development and of public or private organizations under contract to the U.S. Department of State are ineligible to apply for a Fulbright grant until one year after termination of such employment.Candidates who have served in the Armed Forces of the United States will be given preference, provided their qualifications are approximately equivalent to those of other candidates.
