RENEWABLE & SUSTAINABLE ENERGY REVIEWS

RENEW SUST ENERG REV

ISSN / eISSN

Aims and Scope
The mission of Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews is to communicate the most interesting and relevant critical thinking in renewable and sustainable energy in order to bring together the research community, the private sector and policy and decision makers. The aim of the journal is to share problems, solutions, novel ideas and technologies to support the transition to a low carbon future and achieve our global emissions targets as established by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews publishes review papers, original research, case studies and new technology analyses that have a significant review element, which may take the form of a critique, comparison, or analysis. The journal also publishes a new paper type, Expert Insights, which are commissioned mini-reviews from field leaders on topics of significant interest. Case studies will only be considered if they also demonstrate the applicability of the work to other regions and/or inform the broader field of renewable and sustainable energy. A bibliographic or literature review, without critical thinking is not considered suitable.

Reply, this is my second submission to RSER. The first submission was relatively fast, taking about 4 and a half months from submission to acceptance. The second one was more difficult, as it was rejected once and then resubmitted after revisions to RSER. The two submissions combined took almost 20 months, over a year. The speed of the second article was slower, with the editor taking about four months. However, once it entered the under review stage, it was relatively fast and similar to the speed of a normal journal. But now, the review cycle of this journal is indeed very long, mostly over six months, mainly due to the long with editor time.
In addition, if there are format or language issues, the rejection usually occurs during the with editor stage, as this journal shows with editor for both plagiarism check and language editing. However, considering that the impact factor of this journal is already high, almost 15 this year, it's better to tolerate it. Nowadays, even though people say they don't look at the impact factor, papers with high impact factors are still favored when it comes to awards, job applications, and funding applications.

5.9 submission, 6.20 received major revision comments, rejected twice (with minor revisions). The review process for the special issue submission was relatively fast, right?

The reason for rejection was lack of innovation and no other comments, while the other two reviewers had few comments, which were relatively easy to address. One reviewer requested an explanation of the technical application scope, while the other raised a few minor issues regarding modeling software and image modifications.

The editor-in-chief does not seem to be too concerned about the rejection and provided an opportunity for major revisions.

Revised on 7.11, sent for review on 7.19, accepted on 7.21.

Our research group has never submitted to this journal before, and this is also the first time aiming for such a high impact factor.

This is the first paper during my Ph.D., and I plan to write another review article to submit to RSER.
