Aims and Scope
J. R. Soc. Interface welcomes articles of high quality research at the interface of the physical and life sciences. It provides a high-quality forum to publish rapidly and interact across this boundary in two main ways: J. R. Soc. Interface publishes research applying chemistry, engineering, materials science, mathematics and physics to the biological and medical sciences; it also highlights discoveries in the life sciences of relevance to the physical sciences. Both sides of the interface are considered equally and it is one of the only journals to cover this exciting new territory. J. R. Soc. Interface welcomes contributions on a diverse range of topics, including but not limited to; biocomplexity, bioengineering, bioinformatics, biomaterials, biomechanics, bionanoscience, biophysics, chemical biology, computer science (as applied to the life sciences), medical physics, synthetic biology, systems biology, theoretical biology and tissue engineering.

I recently submitted an article to share my experience. The journal is a very good one with strong comprehensiveness, so the content it receives is actually quite diverse. The areas I am more familiar with, such as numerical analysis/mathematical modeling/statistical analysis related to medicine, can be attempted. As for the positioning of the journal, in fact, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) classification is not very friendly to The Royal Society series. Several well-established and high-quality journals are consistently ranked in Zone 2 or 3, such as Philosophical Transactions A, Proceedings A, and also this Interface. The review process is very fast. According to the information on their official website: https://royalsociety.org/journals/authors/benefits/publishing-times/, the speed of the first review is 9 days. Of course, I feel that such speed may involve some superficial reviews, and I'm not sure if the time for editors to reject the manuscript is included. However, based on my own experience and that of my colleagues, we usually receive feedback within about a month. So it is still relatively fast. Since I only needed minor revisions, the entire process from submission to publication took a total of 2 months.

2021-12: Minor revision
2022-1: Accept with minor revision
2022-1: Final acceptance.
