Aims and Scope
Industrial & Engineering Chemistry, with variations in title and format, has been published since 1909 by the American Chemical Society. Industrial & Engineering Chemistry is a weekly publication that reports industrial and academic research in the broad fields of applied chemistry and chemical and biomolecular/biochemical engineering. Papers may be based on work that is experimental, computational, or theoretical, mathematical or descriptive, and chemical, physical, or biological. Accounts of research that combine multiple approaches (e.g., experimentation with validation by modeling or vice versa) are particularly welcome. We seek reports of significant fundamental research advances that draw on core areas such as thermodynamics, transport phenomena, chemical reaction kinetics and engineering, catalysis, separations, and process systems engineering. We also welcome reports on significant advances in product research and development that use chemical and engineering principles to improve or create new catalysts, plastics, sorbents, membranes, and functional materials, for example, for controlled delivery, storage, or energy conversion. Papers dealing with new areas of science and technology that fit the broad scope and objectives of the journal are encouraged.

2022.9.30 Submission
2022.10.03 Assigned to editor, Krista S. Walton
2022.10.08 Under peer review
2022.11.16 Received revision comments. One minor revision, two major revisions. The third reviewer's questions were professional, detailed, and rigorous. Their comments and viewpoints filled two whole pages and they mentioned that the paper may be more suitable for a journal in a different field rather than IECR.
2022.12.02 Responded with a reply of over thirty pages.
2022.12.30 Received second revision comments. Reviewer 3 expressed satisfaction with the first-round discussion but still had higher expectations and wrote another full page of comments.
2023.1.05 Responded to second revision comments.
2023.1.26 Received editor's Final revision email, making some formatting modifications. Reviewer 3 was very satisfied with my revisions but still provided their additional thoughts. Fortunately, the editor believed no further revisions were needed.
2023.1.27 Accepted.
Reviewer 3 was rigorous and had high demands, always returning their comments at the last moment. The submission process can be described as quite challenging, and at one point, I even thought it might be rejected. During the waiting process, I searched through numerous experiences shared online about manuscript submission, and now it has finally been accepted.

The submission process of this article has been quite difficult and tragic. It was sent to a top journal but was rejected due to negative feedback.
It has been quite a journey, and as it progressed, the innovation was compromised, resulting in high time costs.
Overall, the submission process for IECR went relatively smoothly. Three reviewers, two of them being professionals, made modifications to the article as per the requirements, making it more refined.
Thanks to Editor Chunzhong Li, the dean of the School of Chemical Engineering at HuaLi, and also thanks to the three reviewers.
Wishing IECR continued success and early surpassing of the influence of AIChE J.
