ADVANCES IN WATER RESOURCES

ADV WATER RESOUR

ISSN / eISSN
0309-1708
Aims and Scope
Advances in Water Resources provides a forum for the presentation of fundamental scientific advances in the understanding of water resources systems. The scope of Advances in Water Resources includes any combination of theoretical, computational, and experimental approaches used to advance fundamental understanding of surface or subsurface water resources systems or the interaction of these systems with the atmosphere, geosphere, biosphere, and human societies. Manuscripts involving case studies that do not attempt to reach broader conclusions, research on engineering design, applied hydraulics, or water quality and treatment, as well as applications of existing knowledge that do not advance fundamental understanding of hydrological processes, are not appropriate for Advances in Water Resources.

Examples of appropriate topical areas that will be considered include the following:
• Surface and subsurface hydrology
• Hydrometeorology
• Environmental fluid dynamics
• Ecohydrology and ecohydrodynamics
• Multiphase transport phenomena in porous media
• Fluid flow and species transport and reaction processes

Porous media Top 3, no refutation accepted! The other two are JoH and WRR. Although their impact factors are not very high, they are highly recognized in the industry. Anyone involved in environmental fluid or geological fluid research would typically reference articles from this journal. In recent years, there has been a focus on the coupled problems of fractured media, with a strong emphasis on numerical work. Several classic achievements have been published here.

I submitted an article, which was handled by the editor for nearly a month. The first review took 3-4 months. There were two reviewers, one with a positive response and the other with a skeptical attitude. The comments were sharp, and they easily spotted minor errors in the formulas, even suggesting referencing a paper from Physical Review. They also raised several fundamental questions, which were quite challenging.

After arduous revisions, I wrote a 13-page response letter. After submitting the major revisions, it took about 1 month for re-review. The editor finally confirmed the acceptance, and it was a success. The whole process took approximately 5-6 months and was not easy. I am grateful to myself and thankful to the editor!

The first review took about 1 and a half months, and received comprehensive feedback from the editor-in-chief, with nearly 40 suggestions covering methodology, content, and grammar. When making revisions, it is necessary to respond to each suggestion patiently.

The second review was delayed by three months due to system issues (so it should have normally taken about 5 months). It required minor revisions, but the feedback remained targeted.

The third review only required minor revisions and was accepted within three to four days after submission.

The journal is excellent and a top publication in the field of water resources. The content review is meticulous, and there is a high demand for innovation.
