Aims and Scope
Occurrence of corrosion and its practical control is an area of study covering a wide range of scientific knowledge. Corrosion Science provides a medium for the communication of ideas, developments and research in all aspects of this field and includes both metallic and non-metallic corrosion. The scope of this international journal is very extensive. Published papers range from the highly theoretical to the essentially practical and cover such areas as high temperature oxidation, passivity, anodic oxidation, biochemical corrosion, stress corrosion cracking, and mechanisms and methods of corrosion control. This journal publishes original papers and critical reviews in the fields of pure and applied corrosion, the degradation of materials, and both surface science and engineering. It forms an important link between metallurgists, materials scientists and all investigators of corrosion and degradation phenomena.

Verified Reviews
Note: Verified reviews are sourced from across review platforms and social media globally.
Posted in early April 2020; first comments returned in early June, major revisions took 2 months; revised version returned in early August; on August 20, second comments returned, took 2 months; mid-October, second revision returned; mid-November, third comments returned, took 2 months; mid-January 2021, third revision returned; accepted on February 26, 2021.

Based on the authors' response to my comments, I can recommend this manuscript for publication in Corrosion Science.

One reviewer made minor revisions, and after the first modification, no new comments were provided.

Another reviewer was very meticulous, paying attention to small details like adverbs and punctuation.

The first comments had nearly 40 questions, including 17 challenging questions that required focused replies.

The second comments included 7 questions that were not satisfied with the previous responses and introduced 10 new detailed questions.

The third comments had 3 remaining questions that were not satisfied with the previous two responses.

I speculate that the second reviewer is a strict and tolerant foreigner. Strictness is reflected in their attention to detail and persistence in holding onto issues until they are clarified. Tolerance is reflected in giving me three opportunities to respond to comments, and I took almost two months for each revision (procrastination has affected me deeply).

Commemorating the magical year of 2020.

In addition to the unknown, there is also hope in distant places we want to go. Keep striving for the future.

2022.03.25 Submitted (a few days later, with Editor, Editor-in-chief David Young)
2022.05.27 Minor Revision (two reviewers, six minor issues)
2022.05.31 With Editor
2022.06.01 Minor Revision (yes, the Editor reviewed it directly, mentioned issues with Gibbs free energy calculation and English expression)
2022.06.14 With Editor (revised Gibbs and had my English major girlfriend review it for grammar and wording)
2022.06.16 Major Revision (one issue, still related to Gibbs, Editor-in-chief seemed overly concerned, explained and deleted that part)
2022.06.17 With Editor
2022.06.22 Accepted
After three months, it finally got accepted, my first paper in Corrosion Science, and it meets the graduation requirement. Now I have one less year to worry about. Thanks to Editor-in-chief David Young for his patience! Although I don't understand why he was so fixated on not using the standard Gibbs description for reaction direction in corrosion. Many other papers in Corrosion Science use it, so maybe it was just a whim!
