Aims and Scope
Animals (ISSN 2076-2615) is an international and interdisciplinary scholarly open access journal. It publishes original research articles, reviews, communications, and short notes that are relevant to any field of study that involves animals, including zoology, ethnozoology, animal science, animal ethics and animal welfare. However, preference will be given to those articles that provide an understanding of animals within a larger context (i.e., the animals' interactions with the outside world, including humans). There is no restriction on the length of the papers. Our aim is to encourage scientists to publish their experimental and theoretical research in as much detail as possible. Full experimental details and/or method of study, must be provided for research articles. Articles submitted that involve subjecting animals to unnecessary pain or suffering will not be accepted, and all articles must be submitted with the necessary ethical approval (please refer to the Ethical Guidelines for more information).

Verified Reviews
Note: Verified reviews are sourced from across review platforms and social media globally.
The speed of the review is okay, receiving review comments in about a month: major revision (4 reviewers, 1 rejection + 1 major revision + 1 minor revision + 1 direct acceptance), returned after 10 days; minor revision after 7 days (2 minor revisions), returned after 3 days; pending editor decision after 7 days, continuing for over a month; finally, the editor directly rejected it, the reason being that during the pending editor decision stage after the second round of minor revision, there was a strong insistence on rejection (mentioning one issue); appealed and sent for review again, returned to the hands of the rejecting reviewer after 1 and a half months, and the editor rejected it again. I really don't understand what has been going on for the past six months. It's unbelievable that they can insist on rejection based on just one person's opinion, especially after making several revisions over the course of six months!

The review speed is fast, both the acceptance and rejection are quick. The time from submission to publication for accepted papers is generally within 2 months, with the fastest being a little over a month. My colleagues and I have submitted a total of 8 papers, with 4 being rejected and 4 being accepted. It is a good choice for those who are in a hurry to graduate or seeking a promotion. The downside is that some people have biased opinions about MDPI journals. There are usually 3 reviewers, some of whom are very professional, while others may not provide very professional suggestions. Typically, there are 3 rounds of revisions, and if the third revision still doesn't satisfy the reviewers, the paper is usually rejected.
