Let me talk about my experience and give everyone a reference.
The magazine is definitely at the top in the field of microbiology, benchmarking NC. But this submission really made me very unhappy.
Submitted on November 3, 2022.
The editor was appointed throughout the early stage.
There was one change during the process, showing that 27 reviewers were invited.
On February 17, 2023, it was shown that one reviewer accepted the invitation for review.
On February 27, 2023, it was shown that the report had been returned.
On April 9, 2023, a reminder letter was sent.
On April 18, 2023, it was rejected (the reason being that they couldn't find a second reviewer, and the first reviewer's comments were only one page long, asking about some sample information, which I personally think could be answered. The editor said that based on the overall opinion of this reviewer, the submission was rejected).
Overall, this submission experience was very unpleasant and took five months. For students engaged in scientific research, it actually wasted quite a lot of precious time.

My situation was that I looked for an editor for a long time, and it was always an editor invitation. After a month, I sent a reminder letter and the editor-in-chief said they had difficulties finding an editor, but they would immediately contact an associated editor to handle it. So it immediately became a state with an editor handling it. Then, after four or five days, it became reviewer invitation, and not long after that, it was under review, which means it was being reviewed. During this period, the time may vary, possibly due to receiving opinions from different reviewers, but the under reviewer status remained. Finally, it was required review completed, which took about a week or so. Perhaps there were some concerns from the editor, so it took quite a while, and then they rejected it. There were a total of four reviewers, and their opinions were quite fair.
