Commented on Virulence Plasmids of the Pathogenic Clostridia
What is Clostridium novyi sensu lato? I don't fully understand.

Article

Commented on Type I Toxin-Antitoxin Systems in Clostridia
Are these toxin-antitoxin systems present in C. septicum or Bacillus anthracis?

Article

Commented on Clostridia as agents of zoonotic disease
Has C. septicum ever been reported to be found in retail meats?

Article

Commented on Genomics of the Pathogenic Clostridia
I was not aware C. septicum produces other toxins besides alpha-toxin. Are the other toxins known to be causative agents for gas gangrene as well? Possibly playing a more minor role than alpha-toxin? Or known involved in the MAPK pathway in any sort of way?

Article

Commented on The evolution of Clostridia
Wonder specifically how Clostridia developed their neurotoxins, and how long ago they first came up.

Article

Commented on Enterotoxic Clostridia: Clostridioides difficile Infections
An excellent detailed review. I was not aware some C. difficile strains can encode for a binary toxin. Evolutionary speaking, I wonder how that became so.

Commented on MICROBIO: a web-based program for processing and evaluation of microbiological controls on aseptic dispensing
Love to see technology integrated into healthcare, whether it's through a web-based platform, or even integration of smart devices into clinical trials for better data collection and more robust data.

Article

Commented on Twice-Daily Application of HIV Microbicides Alter the Vaginal Microbio
Amazing how microbial communities, even within specific regions of the body, can have such profound effects on health and the effectiveness of certain drugs. I wonder if such active ingredients/drugs could have another purpose, maybe in microbiomes with too high Lactobacillus spp? Not sure if this is common, or a negative thing.

Article

Commented on Dying in a Leadership Vacuum
"But truth is neither liberal nor conservative." Completely agree, whether we are talking about science, public health, or politics.

Article

Commented on Artificial eyespots on cattle reduce predation by large carnivores
If consistently used, I wonder how long it would take for predators to adapt and/or realize they should not be deterred by the markings. Also, as the authors pointed out, the size of the eyes would be an important factor to study as well, particularly if they were drawn to mimic natural enemies of large predators.

Article

Commented on Spending at least 120 minutes a week in nature is associated with good health and wellbeing
I wonder if the same study conducted in other countries/areas of the world would vary the amount of nature content time?

Article

Commented on Temporary reduction in daily global CO2 emissions during the COVID-19 forced confinement
Amazing how CO2 emissions drastically dropped in response to the stay-at-home orders and all within such a short period of time. My individual contribution to CO2 emissions is something I have thought more and more about during this pandemic. I am actively working on reducing in light of these studies.

Commented on Behavioral nudges reduce failure to appear for court
Sending text messages for future court appearances is a fantastic idea! It is very easy to forget about a court date, especially when they are months in advance. We are all super busy, and some of us are forgetful (such as me).

Article

Commented on Susceptibility of ferrets, cats, dogs, and other domesticated animals to SARS–coronavirus 2
Very interesting article as it is important to consider other sources of transmission. I wonder why younger cats are more vulnerable to SARS-CoV-2 than older cats. I would think it should the other way around, due to the aging immune system.
